Maintain Your Brake Fluid to Ensure the Safety of Your Vehicle

Your mechanic tells you that it's time to change the brake fluid in your vehicle, and so you tell him to go ahead and do it. But, do you actually know what the brake fluid does and how your mechanic determines that it needs to be changed? It's worthwhile to know, so keep reading.

Your brake fluid is compressed in the brake lines when you push the pedal. When the brake fluid is compressed, this causes a pressure on the brakes which in turn press against the rotors, causing the vehicle to slow and stop. If the brake fluid becomes contaminated by moisture or debris, the efficiency of the brake fluid can become compromised. That can mean that you will have troubles stopping your vehicle.

If you're interested in finding out if your brake fluid is in optimal condition, come by our service center at Ed Corley Ford Sales Inc. in Grants, and we'll be happy to take a look.
