Breaking new ground sometimes means a willingness to lose something, and such is true for the approach Ford engineers took when redesigning the 2017 Ford Super Duty. Of course, that didn't mean they took a backseat with the creation of their latest heavy-duty pickup. Rather, they leveraged a sacrifice in order to achieve unprecedented success. More specifically, the new Super Duty "lost weight," giving it a lighter architecture—but never fear, it is as strong as ever.

John Brenkus and the Tough Science team will attest to its extraordinary abilities. Its lightweight body is shockingly strong thanks to its military-grade aluminum alloy body. Bolted with the strongest steel frame to date, however, this truck retains its strength.

How strong? For starters, strong enough to handle over 7,000 lbs. of payload and up to 32,500 lbs. of towing. That's nearly 40,000 lbs. combined. However, Tough Science decided to pit the 2017 Super Duty's high-strength steel against more than 60,000 pounds of dead weight suspended from it in mid-air. You can see the results in the video below.
